 | | Danny and Simeon go through to the BCAC Finals 2008 29th July 2008 - (Tuesday) In a virtual opposite to the last semi finals, Bradleys greeted the competitors for this years BCAC Semi Finals no 2 with blistering conditions, high air pressure, the slightest of breezes and extremely bright conditions. If ever there was a weekend not to get the rods out this was it, but it had to be done and the Battle of Bradleys II had to commence.
As the main match started is was Jamie French and Jon Hill on the track bank that were first into fish with just 14 minutes on the clock. Their stealth had paid off and whilst the fish was only 7lbs it was enough to get them on to the board. Within minutes and in the next door swim young Liam Hodges (16) who was fishing on his own also picked up a fish. At 6.08 it was even smaller but it got him onto the board and little did he know how valuable it would later turn out to be.
By morning Ian Poole and Jon Finch had banked two fish for 24.02 from swim 1 on the road bank, and father and son team Andy and Tom Maker had done the same at the opposite end of the match stretch in swim 23 for a total of 20.03. Joe Morgan / Daryl Peck added another little one to their total to put them in third 17.07 and a 10.13 at first light also got Danny Henwood / Simeon Bond into the equation ahead of the two teams that had caught early in the match on Friday.
As the sun came up and the temperature rose there were a few cruisers spotted but nothing ever looked like feeding. The day was unbearable and anyone with any shade tucked themselves into it. Incredibly some of the teams still decided to spod and as the evening drew close there were spods and bait balls flying all over the place.
It came as little surprise in the morning to find that no fish had been caught following the evening bombardment. The first couple of hours of daylight are usually productive and just on breakfast the alarm of Danny Henwood rattled into life and Bondy eventually put the net under a common of 10.04 to seal their place in the finals.
The big question was where would the finals be? It has been a closely guarded secret throughout the eliminators and to everyone’s delight the announcement came as Broadlands on the 12th to the 14th September.
Finalists:
!st Poole & Finch 24.02
2nd Henwood & Bond 21.01
3rd Maker & Maker 20.03
4th Morgan & Peck 17.07
5th French & Hill 7.00
6th Hodges 6.08
7th Seeds & Baker (cast off) |

 | Geezers Charity Event 3!!! 18th January 2007 - (Thursday) Over the last 2 years Geezers Charity Event has raised £6852:33p For Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. The event is being held again this year. Great Ormond Street Hospital relies heavily on donations to keep the hospital going. At present my niece Lily which was the reason I started doing this event is currently being treated once a year. Lily is like a brand new little girl after having her failed kidney removed in December 2005.
Thanks to everyone that took part in the 1st charity event I held in 2005 (without your help Lily would not be with us today). This year the money raised from the event will be split between Great Ormond Street Hospital and Iris Ward at King Georges Hospital. I was recently rushed into King George’s Hospital with my kidney disorder and I cannot thank the doctors and nurses enough for looking after me, it’s the only Hospital in Essex with a urology ward so everyone will benefit should you have any kidney problems. The format is the same as always visit www.specialist-tackle.co.uk click on the link to Geezers Charity Event 2007 complete the form job done. This year I am holding the event on a 22 acre lake in Essex, stocked with over 200 fish that incidentally have never been fished for so everyone should have a good time. The stars for this year’s event are: Dave Levy, Lee Jackson, Rob Maylin, Gary Bayes, Pete Castle, Gary Lowe, Derek Ritchie, Phil Harper, Nigel Sharp and Richard Farnan. The dates for this years event are 31st August, 1st and 2nd September. There will be prizes for the biggest fish and the most weight plus there will be a BBQ.
