Where it all started - back to 1989
Frustrated that he was unable to purchase locally the type of fishing
tackle used by specialist anglers, Peter Henwood decided his only
option was to open a shop catering mainly for the specialist angler.
So in May 1989, Specialist Tackle was born. Peter, his wife Sue along
with Peter's best mate Dave Collins, who helped out at weekends, embarked
on an amazing journey, overcoming enormous opposition from a variety
of sources and many obstacles, some of which seemed too big to conquer
at the time.
However they persevered and within a year they employed Peter Jones
, an experienced carp angler, as manager. The business continued
to grow rapidly and two of Peter's sons, Darren and Danny, helped
out when they could. It soon became apparent that their premises
were too small, so in 1994 they purchased an old bakery, and after
many weeks of hard work involving many friends, converted the bakery
into a huge tackle shop.

Specialist Tackle is now twelve years of age and one
of the largest and most respected specialist shops in the U.K. The
company now employs ten staff including Dave, our longest serving
member, along with Peter Jones and Peter's two sons Darren and Danny
giving the business a true family feel. The company continues to grow
they are always hard at work developing and sourcing new products
for the future. |

the requirements of customers old and new, both at home and overseas.
